Mark Hulbert's column in Sunday's Times (23rd) discusses once again the "Halloween Effect" (buy at Halloween and sell in May). We believe in cycles and ignore them for purposes of making investing decisions. Actually we think a lot of theories and methods are important and completely disregard them when looking at the market. Why do you need templates to put on the market when the chart tells you what's happening and what to do? So forget the Halloween Effect. Instead, worry about the Black Cat Sign.
